Wave Chasers is an outdoor preschool located on the beautiful coast of NC. Our “classroom” is the Atlantic Beach shoreline and the nature trails of Fort Macon. As a forest and beach school, our focus is to instill the love of learning and nature by merging the two together in a play-based experience. We believe children learn best when connected to the natural world that surrounds them, and by feeling loved, heard, and valued.

Our Journey
Hi there! I am Taylor Roth, creator and director of Wave Chasers. As a mother to two toddlers, I found myself seeking more in their early childhood education. Although all of their previous preschools were memorable and treasured, they were each on one end of the spectrum or the other: very academic or nonacademic; no exposure to nature or exposure/education only based on nature. I wanted my children to learn outside and fall in love with the simplicity and beauty of the natural world. I wanted them to learn developmentally appropriate concepts, but at their own pace and in a play-based approach. I wanted the best of both worlds and I did not want to settle for anything less than what I knew was best for my children- a fun and natural learning experience. Because of this, I decided to use this longing, my experience, and passion to develop and start a preschool of my own: Wave Chasers. Created with our family’s love for the beach, trees, and learning, our little school was born and we began our journey.
